Having problems with IR Remote circuit.........

Hello,

First of all how do i check whether my IR LED is working or not?

I am using PIC16F628A i am connecting IR LED through a BS170.....with the
gate driven by PIC pin.....

simplest way to check your IR. If you have a digital camera, point it to the IR diode and look at the image. The camera will see IR radiations though you may not be able to see the pulsations without a bit of clever manipulation of the camera.
