Anyone using VB6 or VB.Net may want to take a peek
at this. http://www.softwire.com/index.html

No affiliation with them. I've used SoftWire to create a ton
of VB applications. It includes an o-scope, data-logging,
digital & analog meters, strip charts, and tons of additional
activex controls.

Here's the link to the VB6 version.
http://www.softwire.com/swdownload/softwiredownload.htm

I'm not sure why they're giving it away, but it's awesome
software.

Bruce,

That's Version 6 of Softwire, not VB6.

"Graphical Programming Interface for Visual Studio .NET 2003, Visual Basic .NET 2003 or C# .NET 2003"

It's for the new VB.NET architecture, the replacement for VB6. Notice also that it's for the basic and older versions of VB.NET, not for the more advanced and current versions.

I have Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition and this version of Softwire does not recognize it. I tried installing Softwire, but it insists on having VB 2003.

Personally, I'm looking for Visual Basic 6 but can't afford buying that right now. I don't want to use this .NET stuff, the Express Edition (free) doesn't have any import feature for the VB6 code generated by USBmaker.

It's not 'free', this is an evaluation version. It's going to time out after a while, I just can't say how long. I went through all the files I could look at and nowhere does it give any indication. But it is definitely an evaluation version, that much is certain.

I bet it says on the installation screens how long it will work before you have to order your copy. Since I can't install it, I can't get to that screen.

Look at the date that thread was posted
15th December 2004, 11:09
it was free in the past.
it was made for vb6

Now, seems the whole company change OR a money maker buy them to make money with their software.

The original post was worded properly. It was a promotion. They were giving
away the "full working version" of softwire version 3.1 for "VB6".

I'm still using it with VB6. I don't even own/use VB.Net.

That's weird.

I got an automated email saying Steve replied in a thread I am watching, but it included a link to this thread as well. That's why I thought it was recent. I have no idea why this thread was sent to me.

Bruce, do you still have the free version for VB6 and if so, is there any slight possibility that I could somehow get that version from you? The software looks very exciting!

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I have it installed, but I don't have the original install.exe. You would need to
contact Measurement Computing for that.

Note you also need to register it with them once installed to get rid of the nag
screen.

As far as I know, they have stopped giving it away, and are really trying to
push the VB.Net version, but it's worth asking them about.

Bruce, thanks.
