    Unhappy MPLAB and PBP ...

    Hi,

I had been working for years with MPLAB and PBP ... no soucy.

BUT Yesterday, my computer hung on while I was trying some USB program ... and MPLAB was open.

    RESULT:

All the compilers ( including MPASM ! , PbP .... etc, etc ) have disappeared from the Toolsuite selection window ... BUT their locations are still here in the Location window.

So, no way to create a new project ... but old ones still compile fine !!!

Verified the PATH ... ( could someone showme a Win XP Home example ??? just to compare if something had been lost )

Made a system restore ... nothing
Made a damaged files search and repare ... nothing

Reinstalled MPLAB, C18, PbP ( and its DLL's) ... NO CHANGE.

A file has surely been corrupted ... but which ???

Thanks for the ideas ... by the time, I'll use MCS !!!

IF there is the word "Problem" in your question ...
    certainly the answer is " RTFM " or " RTFDataSheet " !!!

Are you saying that you had some files there but now you can not see them?

If this is the case, then you can recover the files that had been lost.

There is this program named "Active File Recovery".

You can even recover a formatted HDD ; if not much written on it.

So, be alone while running the program cause if you find a picture with someone at somewhere that for sure deleted years ago, some unpleasant moments may occur!

BUT their locations are still here in the Location window.
are the paths missing from there?

If so, then go to the MPLAB help /MPASM/MPLAB IDE Setup
and it tells all of the paths there.

I know, you been there done that

    Smile Solution !

    Hi, Everyone

Microchip knows the problem ... but do not have a fix !!!

    I turned back to V8.10 AND reloaded Hi-TECH C compiler 9.60 PL 1

( µChip seems to think the problem is due to the new HiTech PRO C compiler ... )

Now everything is back and fine ...

I will try to re-Upgrade to MPLAB 8.14 Tomorrow ...

Keep on the line for the results

    Alain

Thanks for the ones who helped ... verifying everything is not lost time !!!
