Default 6-Digit, 7-segment, serial LED display controller IC

We've just released a new 6-digit 7-segment serial display controller IC. This one has a few
bells & whistles our original 4-digit version doesn't.

    http://www.rentron.com/SLED-C6.htm

    Features:

    * Includes 7 built-in display animations for printing, scrolling, clearing digits, and special effects.
    * Automatically scrolls up to 17 character strings across display.
    * Flicker free multiplexed LED display controller with fast response times.
    * Controls up to 6 right hand decimal points.
    * Two command modes for total control of individual LED segments.
    * Animation speed control for creative special effects.
    * Stores display brightness setting in onboard non-volatile memory.
    * Stores a six-digit splash screen in onboard non-volatile memory.
    * No need for continuous display updates in the hosts firmware.
    * Single wire serial control with data rates at 9600 or 19200 bps.
    * Automatic refresh and update of each display digit.
    * Low power sleep mode with auto display restore on wake-up.
    * Flexible operating voltage range from 3.0 to 5.5 VDC.
    * Offers 126 levels of display brightness control.
    * Multiplexed display digits for reduced power consumption.
    * Built-in 16-bit hardware counter with updates on display.
    * Transmits stored display brightness value in hex format to host.

This one can run on 3V to 5.5V at 4MHz.

    Default 6-seg

    hi,
would it work allright with 3,4 or 5 digit display, flicker??
and how about a generic type circuit board for display/pic.
also, only common anode digits display?

    Default

Yes it will work with 3, 4, or 5 digits, but it's still going to assume there are six digits it's
    controlling.

We already have a 4-digit serial LED display http://www.rentron.com/SLED-C4.htm

Yes it's only for common anode type 7-segment displays. We will have a board for them in
    the near future.
