    Default MS-DOS Subsystem error

anyone have this error come up in MicroCode Studio?
"the NTDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction..."

is there a fix for it? it mostly goes away if i restart the computer, but then it comes back again.
    not very productive!

Are you sure it's MCS that's causing the NTVDM error?
What does the REST of the error say...

    didn't see your reply skimask.
after the quote i made, the error is listed as some low level barf.
check the link below for a good example. it would give different barf sometimes.
i hope i'm on the right track now.

When did it happened? After a Bootloader process, ICD, Serial communicator, Programmer launch?

You could still manually shut down the NTVDM process in the TaskManager.

I know i already had a problem like that, but it was long time ago... memory fade...

EDIT: oh yeah i remember... it was when launching Picstart... in the ol' days, when i had PBP 2.40, MCSP could launch MPLAB 5.XX, then launch PicStart. The problem happened when closing MPLAB. It never prompted the error message, but i had to shut-down the NTVDM process, or i couldn't lauch Picstart again... that was years ago...

    It's not a bug, it's a random feature.
There's no problem, only learning opportunities.
