An infrared what? Toaster? LED? Detector? Infrared Non-Lethal Imobilization Beam Emitter?

If you're talking about an IR LED, then if you can't figure out what size resistor to use, then, quite frankly, how do you know the IR LED will be lit up in the first place? What type of IR LED are you using? Have you found the datasheet for it yet?

If you're talking about an IR detector, what type of detector are you using?
