    Default Distance Measurement Chips

    Hi there,

I am going to start a research on finding chips for distance measurement.

Before I start, I wanted to have your ideas as to have an idea upfront for what to look for.

    I would appreciate any input.

The requirement is +/-1mm sensitivity in 300cm distance.

*I have info for Sharp modules but the distance and the sensitivity are not good.

    Thanks in advance.

Why insist on using 32 Bits when you're not even able to deal with the first 8 ones ??? ehhhhhh ...

IF there is the word "Problem" in your question ...
    certainly the answer is " RTFM " or " RTFDataSheet " !!!

    Hi Alain,

These days, I have been really strange (even to myself).

I guess I have not been able to focus on things precisely recently.

This may be a cause of me engaged to be married. I now have a fiancé.

    BTW;

This schematic should be what you are talking about.

That depends on what you mean by E.T. ?

    I didn't know your scheme ...

but remember measuring contactlessly short distances with a 1/3000 resolution is quite a nice piece of cake !!! ( the sonic way is very dependant of temp and humidity, and the light way ... is far too fast on such distances.)

why don't you want to build simple things ???

    Alain,

This is not what I want to build. This is an inquiry that I want to catch and respond. I was thinking about laser ones but I have very limited time to do research on things.
Thanks to this forum and people like you. I can at least get some ideas so that I will know where and what to look for.

You can buy standard commercial devices that will do this like having a poo, they are used on machinery, and in hoppers, they can measure water level in a hopper full of steam if needs be, they use an infrared laser from memory they are around $300NZ and i think measure upto 10M with 1mm resolution
