    Default Optrex 51553 graphic LCD

I still have to add some means of adjusting the contrast.

Basic alphabetic font, but you get the picture. It's easy to add more characters in the font INCLUDE. Just make sure to add the characters in the corresponding position in the LOOKDOWN string as well.

I added screen brightness control and set the default brightness to a better setting.

Note comment alongside INCLUDE, use an external EEPROM for increased character capacity. A 16F877 only has 256 bytes of EEPROM; at 8 bytes per character that's only 32 characters.

And now position 255 is used for brightness control, so you are down to 31 characters.

Rotated the layout from landscape to portrait. I also improved the font to make the characters more bold.

Kinda annoying that we can't upload .PBP and .INC files to this forum. So don't forget to rename the files accordingly.

I also goofed off with the page and column offsets so you can see how flexible graphic LCD addressing can be. The pic is slightly blurry, bad lighting under night conditions.

    Hi,

See the product below. Build something similar could be the next step?

EA eDIP240-7 is the world’s first display with integrated intelligence!
As well as a number of built-in fonts which can be used with pixel accuracy
it also features a whole range of sophisticated graphics functions.
Supplied with 5V, the display is ready for operation immediately.
It is controlled via one of the 3 integrated RS-232, SPI or I²C interfaces.
Graphics commands similar to high-level languages are used for programming.
There is no longer any need for the time-consuming programming of character
sets and graphics routines. The ease of use of this display with its
touch panel reduces development time dramatically.

    Wow, impressive product!

I wonder how much that beauty is going to cost?
