Default Forum doesn't quite work when not logged in.

Is it just me or is there something going on with the forum?
If I'm not logged in I can get to the "home page" where I can see new posts in the left column but if I click on anyone of them all I get is a blank page. Same thing if I click "What's New" at the top. I can search the forum and get presented with the usual (more or less relevant) results to my query but if I click on one of them all I get is that blank.

If I'm logged in it seems to be working though.

    /Henrik.

    mmmm, thats strange.

The issue should only affect those that were browsing as guest. Registered users that logged in, should not have seen any issues. - Which is why i did not notice ( being lazy and not checking thoroughly )

Richard, there was nothing wrong with the forum that wold prevent your access last week. At least nothing that is different to the forum configuration this week. The ONLY issue was related to users that were browsing the forum as guest. If you were logged in, there should have been issue.

I have tested your account this morning and i've uploaded a file to the test forum, whilst using your account credentials.

Can you test, and explain where you are seeing difficulties. I will follow up and check any issue you highlight related to uploading and browsing of the forum.

i could not get to the login screen, just got (HTTP ERROR 500)

re-uploads , i was trying to upload two files , one text the other an image
upload went through the motions but nothing appeared in bottom panel
there was no error message ,nothing happened after upload was performed.

i reduced image file size and it uploaded later that day, maybe file was too big (2.5meg i think)
the upload screen had different appearance between chrome and ms.edge also when files selected

the upload screen now offers no additional file option . i notice today

    HI,
I have checked and the logs show people logging in, I logged in without issues too. However there was an issue of browsing the forums if you were NOT logged in. So if you went to the FORUM page to log in rather than the HOME page, you would have seen the issue. Log IN via the Home page was unaffected.
There are upload limites on File type and File size.

thanks for the file sizes lester, seems i need to try a bit harder to compress images from the 16MP camera on my new phone.
a file too big error msg would be nice.

So if you went to the FORUM page to log in rather than the HOME page, you would have seen the issue.
my browser forum shortcut is http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/forum.php

as i said it just got a http 500 error from there , to me it appeared the forum was broken so i went no further.
i'm not sure what your statement means.

I'll look at changing the upload message. But its general, its not Just for an oversize fiile.

Regarding the frum last week. what i'm trying to explain is that the forum only appeared to be broken to those that were NOT logged in.

If you were NOT logged in and went to the forum home page you could have logged in and you'd never see the issue.

If However you went directly to the forum - as you did - then you would have seen the issue and you would not be able to log in.

anyway, its working ow. and in future if there is a major outage like we saw last week. please feel free to email me direct @crownhill.co.uk

yep, as i said, you would have got that if you were not logged in and went directly to the forum. If you went via the home page, it was working when not logged in , allowing you to log in and progress to the forum.
