OK, it works now just fine. All 3 pages.

Very interesting what that little board can do!

Next to battery button there is this text box. The number is different in the 3 pages. Does this 5 digit number represent the battery level?

i think multiple serving pages and multiple users may confufu [trump speak] the thing, it might be over ambitious .
you could not rely on it for anything important if you can't reach the reset button

There is a limited number of simultaneous websockets available.
I seem to recall that 4-8 was the limit (can't find it right now in the docs) but if there are numerous people trying to access the demo then that could be a problem.
But then in a typical instance you should not usually be putting that much demand on one little device to be servicing so many web connections at the same time.

    @richard
one thing to do, if you can, is to monitor the serial output from the module and you will find that there is quite a bit of helpful feedback as various things happen, web connect/disconnect, etc., and also that is where the PRINT command sends its output to.
(ie. open a terminal window like putty at 115200 baud on the same serial port used to flash the chip. There is also a built in serial terminal in the Flasher ToolKit but I prefer putty most of the time)

a word of warning . the device is not secure !!!
you can add /config to the ipaddress and access the config menu , turn the menu bar back on , reboot then
add your own pgm ,the results of which may not be nice who knows whats possible.

I will copy/paste your questions over on the other forum and see if Cicciocb can answer.
I'd encourage you to post questions over there also.

    @richard,

First I would say that most of this conversation should be moved over to the Annex forum. You will certainly NOT gain the benefit from any experienced ANNEX users on this forum (though I know there are world class programmers here).
My intent was to invite people to join the conversation and start testing and trying out Annex.

Bear in mind that this is the first public release of Annex.
Certainly there will be things discovered and corrected.
Cicciocb (and other contributors/testers) are very responsive and interested in correcting bugs and educating.

Exposing your project immediately to the wilds of the internet may not be a fair test of its usefulness at this point.
If your project is kept secure behind your own private network then you can have a lot of fun and create amazing projects with just a few lines of code.

Annex is built on a solid foundation and it will only get better.
I am sure that security will be addressed in due time.

I suggest you test out and get used to Annex in general and as questions/comments come up post them on the Annex forum.

    -----------------------------

    @ everyone
I encourage you all to give Annex a go and see what you think. Join the conversation and contribute.
Again, this invite should in no way be taken as a negative for our beloved PBP.
I see the EASY addition of WiFi connectivity to any of your PBP projects as a major benefit.

This will be my last post here regarding Annex.

Come on over and see for yourself!

    cheers

you have the wrong end of the stick , my only intent is to warn users of this forum that annex is
    not secure at this point
Annex is built on a solid foundation and it will only get better.

just does not cut it without a fair and obvious disclaimer

OK, now I am backtracking on my statement about "last post here"

I have to agree with you Richard.

I think a chapter or warning about security risks (if it does not already exist over at the Annex site) is something that needs to be created and made obvious to new users.
Hopefully Cicciocb will take note and address security for new (and old) users.

I have several projects that I am working on but I don't plan on putting them out for others to access from the outside.

This is one area (among many) that I am not knowledgeable about, other than I do know that exposing any system to the www is obviously extremely risky. As I am sure we have all gotten some notice or other that our personal data (financial, passwords, email, etc. etc.) have already been compromised.

as they say "Its a jungle out there"

my security concerns have been addressed, my browser has cached these pages and makes it appear that protected mode was
bypassed. thats not the case , from a "clean" browser its not that easy to hack your way in.
    security is ok

note the menu can be restored with ipaddress/output?menu at any time , so the password is your protection

Dwight, I have finally received my W25Q32 flash devices and installed a few into ESP8266-01's. The Annex program works a treat. I notice there is no DayLight Savings Time option when setting the time zone. I was hoping to use a few for some of my Nixie Clocks. Have you used any for your clock rebuild? I was wondering if you were able to get your original DST code to work?

    Hi Dave,

Glad to hear you are liking Annex. It really is amazing what can be easily accomplished with Annex and the esp modules.

I am still running the code I posted on my Nixie clock project post here
    http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=20965

It seems to work just fine.
I have yet to convert that espBASIC code I used over to Annex.
So my nixie clock is still running the espBASIC code to get the time.
The calculation for DST on/off is still handled in the PBP code on the PIC.

I don't believe the Annex OS can determine DST on/off without you writing the code to do the calc.

    Hope that answers you question
    dwight

be sure to join the Annex forum as it is really heating up with a lot of new members.

Finally tried to flash it, but instructions on website are very strange, can't get it working at all. Included flasher has no idea what to do. Can someone just provide bin file so I can flash it with standard nodeMcu flasher?
