Default writing data from PIC to USB memorystick

Is it possible to write data from a PIC 18F2550 directly to a USB Memory Stick?

It may be possible, but I have only ever seen the PIC as a slave device rather than as the master.

I'm pretty sure I read in the datasheet "somewhere" that PICs 18F can only be used as slaves as of last year.

Unless they brought out a new 18F model that can now serve as master, but I haven't seen any posts about that yet.
