    Default Downward compatibility PBP versions.

I have posted solar tracking code as open source to be compiled with PBP version 2.60A.

My question (from others), Are the latest versions of PBP 100% downward compatible with version 2.60A?

I'm still at 2.60c, but the subject of new CONFIG directive in 3.0 comes up often.

Me too. I am still at 2.60c. New features in 3.0 would make it impossible for downward compatibility.

OK. That makes sense. So, excepting new features, both will produce the same hex file from the same source code?

Hmm, I am not sure about that. They always make improvements with every new version. For example, they may try to make a certain command run faster (with less instructions) than with a previous version. I don't know what changes they made with the new version 3.0, but that can be found in the Melabs webpage.
