Default MS5541C Depth Sensor Schematic and Software

    Hi All!
First I wish to thank everyone (too many to list) who helped make this project a success! Just some minor FYI's. The accuracy is 1/2". You will probably note some extra code to ensure this as atmospheric pressure is always changing. This project is intended for a radio controlled model submarine so there is a "reset" in the code that is fed by a water detector so that when the sub surfaces the software knows to check the surface or "zero" point. The MS5541C is VERY delicate when it comes to soldering to its little board. I used a .375 plastic rod that was drilled out to 1/4" and counter sunk to allow the sensor to be epoxyed. This made handling it much easier. It is helpful to use a little extra soldering paste on the board. Then, making sure you do not get any flux remover on the sensor you can clean it off. After soldering, it truely is in your best interests to epoxy the wires and capacitor. The sensor will absolutely not all any mechanical stress on the solder joints. Enjoy!

    Thank you Beacon44!
The success would not be possible without the support and patience from all the great people on this forum. Next project is a "speed sensor" probably using the same pressure sensor as it is going into a model submarine and GPS just does not work underwater!

    Best, Ed

I want pics! Love to see what others put together.

Miniature sub has been one of those dream projects since I got into PICs.

    Congrats.

    Robert

Edit: I do have one suggestion; auto-surface when communications lost.
