    Default Cellular module?

    Hi Guys,
Has anyone used a mobile module to connect with a pic?
I'm after a module that requires a SIM card and carrier account
to receive SMS messages and have the content of the SMS readable by the pic.

    Any suggestions?

Ive never used one. But Olimex makes one with a PIC on board:

And for something completely different, works on Satellite:

Per message rates seem to be pretty high. But they have something like 15 pre-defined messages that are free to send. So much of status could be sent in the predefined messages (maybe).

    Thx,
and the satellite module, nice reasoning that the 10 cents isn't bad for getting your message to space & back
