    Unhappy Melabs U2 Programmer

My U2 programmer will not work with a PIC16F873 chip. I have it selected in the drop down window. It works fine with a PIC16F818. I did change the cable to the 28 to 40 pin chips.
    any ideas ??
    Thank
    Jim

It will work with the 873.

Along with changing the ribbon position...
Did you change the position of pin1 on the chip? (Next to the zif handle)

Yes I made sure pin one is in the correct position.
I have programmed them before, not sure what has happened.
I changed it back and programmed a PIC16F818 just fine.

Did you reinstall the programmer software lately?

I remember seeing something about limitations on the freeware version.
My Creality Ender 3 S1 Plus is a giant paperweight that can't even be used as a boat anchor, cause I'd be fined for polluting our waterways with electronic devices.

Robert, Yes that was the problem. I dropped back one version on firmware and it is working again.
    Thank man
