Lightbulb Want to learn GSM & PIC programming

    Hi
I am new to PIC programming and can make basic programs quiet comfortably.
I would like to now learn about programming PIC to communicate with GSM modems. I would like to buy one cheap GSM module and would like to know which one I should go for to try some tricks (thanks for advise in advance )

Since it will be my first time with GSM modules, I will appreciate if someone can guide me to any book or help me setup connections and teach me a little about how to go about it.

My try will be to recoganise the text and glow an led and then reply back via text saying "LED ON"

    Thanks in advance

    Hi this is priest.
I am telling you some of the importent intro of the GSM.
GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), is a standard set developed by the
European Telecommunications Standards Institute to describe technologies for second generation digital cellular networks. Developed as a replacement for first generation analog cellular networks, the GSM standard originally described a digital, circuit switched network optimized for full duplex voice telephony.
The standard was expanded over time to include first circuit switched data transport, then packet data transport via
GPRS (General Packet Radio services). Packet data transmission speeds were later increased via EDGE. The GSM standard is more improved after the development of third generation UMTS standard developed by the 3GPP. GSM networks will evolve further as they begin to incorporate fourth generation LTE Advanced standards. "GSM" is a trademark owned by the GSM Association

    Hi financecatalyst,

    I bought a GSM Starterkit S3 from www.roundsolutions.com a few weeks ago.

Depending on what you intend to learn and do, you might be afraid about the price (€338.-) but I can tell, you get an excellent starter kit with absolutely all one needs to have a good start.

You can also buy a GSM module only, but the protoboard you get in the kit is really handy (just "plug & play").

There are other GSM modules sellers for sure, so have a look around ;-)
