    Default infrared help

    hi i am really new to programming and could use some help for a project i am working on.

    i need to know how to make a barebones infrared transmitter/reciever with a couple of pic 16f690's i have laying around. for infrared parts i have a Infrared transistor and an IR LED. i do not know anything about AND or NAND gates the other posts talk about.

    i reallise this may be a tall order but any help would be appreciated

    barebones infrared transmitter/reciever
    How barebones do you mean. Just an ON/OFF detector to start with? Or are you wanting to transmit data?

    transmitting data is a must for my project, the reciever needs to be able to control about 8 outputs based on what signal it gets from the transmitter
