Default Cheapest mobile with AT Commands

    Hi
    Can anyone help?
I want to link a pic to an cheap secondhand mobile phone for SMS using AT commands,
    make not important.
I purchased a Nokia 5110 as it had the ability to communicate at 9600 bps
which I took to be a modem using AT commands but now I am now so sure.
Can anyone confirm one way or the other.
The other question is the cheapest and best documented phone for this purpose
    Regards

    Hi Frank,

The cheapest solution I found was a Siemens C35 (S25 will also do).
This accepts AT commands at 19200baud without any problem.
However a bit tricky if you want to use SMS as it only support PDU format (7bit coding).
I used a C35 and was working quite well without any problems.

There are still other options like Siemens M1, M20, TC35.
Do also have a look at Falcom or the GM862 of Telit(http://www.gm862.com)

The problem with the 5110 is that it operates at 115200baud and can only be addressed through the Fbus or Mbus interface if I'm not mistaken.
The thing with these types of Nokias is that on a pc a kind of software modem is created as the mobile itself does not have a modem incorporated.

    Regards

Any NOKIA does accept AT commands. The modem thing is irrelevant with the SMS capability. If you want to send an SMS then you can use the NOKIA you bought or other makes (relative new).

Please get the AT command set for the appropriate phone.

I have good results with NOKIA 6150 and NOKIA 6210.

In the field I would prefer the Siemens TC35i, it is solid as a rock.
    (about $ 150)

    Unhappy

I'm experimenting with Siemens M35. Sending AT commands with PIC is OK but I can't receive any response from phone. I use pic16f876 with HS fuse set, 16MHz quartz and hserin command. has anyone some experience with that phone?
