Default computer expert? laptop memory issue

Does anyone know if it's possible to block a section of ram from an operating system (xp)?

I have an older laptop that developed a memory error just under the 64M boundary.
This memory is on the main board so cant just swap it out.
the additional ram that could be replaced of course is working perfectly. lol
I've seen bios's with memory hole allocation items in them, this one doesn't have that.
If I could block the bad section, I'd be able to make due with this for a while longer.

    it's a toshiba 2655Xdvd (466mhz celeron)

    Something like RamDisk might work.
Instead of allocating it for temporary use, allocate and not use?
I have not tried it though.

Hey that's a good idea! it'd use a lot of usuable ram to get it to cover the area I need covered, but is better than a constantly crashing laptop! Thanks!

    it worked! (mostly)
I was able boot and copy my files off without crashing. (or removing the hd and placing in another system.)
if I try to access the web via wifi, or play multimedia of any type it still crashes.
must be more than just that memory so i gave up and ordered another board for it.

THANKS! at least I'm happy all my work is saved!
