Question What is the best modem to use with a PIC?

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to help. I am looking to use a modem in a sort of remote dial up app. Does anyone have an idea, or perhaps know of a source for this?

Looks like nobody else wants to answer...

Pretty much any (serial) modem is fine... selection of your modem will depend on whether or not you want it approved to your local PTT Authorities standards, what features you want and the price you want to pay, but they are all pretty much similar, all based on only a small number of chipsets, and they all do the same things.

Get your protocols correct between it and the PIC and you will be able to swap between almost any make of modem without problems.

If anyone is interested I can post a general Hayes Command Reference manual which is useful in establishing dialogue between your PIC and the modem.
