    Hi PoTeToJB,

2 books on PBP that have helped me are "Programming PIC Microcontrollers With PIC Basic" by Chuck Hellebuyck and "PIC Microcontroller Project Book" by John Iovine. These are really "take you by the hand" type of books with experiments and program explanations. Also spend several hours reading over the various heading in this forum. There's a wealth of knowledge here and there are many great minds in this group all willing to help newbies get going. Keep in one thing though, these great minds don't necessarily give you the direct answer but provide you with the information necessary to get your mind to work!

There are numerous books on the market that are about PICs but they are for assembly or other languages. The 2 above are specifically for PBP.

    Good luck and have fun!

    BobK.

I haven't seen any book on PBP that offers anything more than the handbook that comes with the software from Melabs. (Especially the Chuck Helleybuck book).

Someone needs to do a comprehensive tutorial covering everything.

Not just the PBP statements but a better understanding of the PIC's modules and registers that can be directly accessed by PBP.....which I have found in time to be just as important.....(just look at many of the code examples). You'll see as much INTCON or CCP1CON or TMR1CS as you will "HIGH PORTB.3"

ALL of the books I've seen assume way too much.
