I can also confirm the forum still does not work with Chrome.

I have to use Edge to use this site.

I use chromium on Linux and face no problems till now. Occasionally, I have the odd problem of being unable to zap spammers as the thread shows but will not be zapped. Then, I clear cache, reload the page and the zapping happens.

I am suspecting a browser hijack has got installed on the affected machines.

If it's not too much to try, I would burn any Linux ISO to a pendrive, boot it up and try browsing through that. It might help to identify the cause and will not disturb your existing setup in any way.

Today my desktop machine greeted me with a new version of Edge and I can no longer reach the forum from it. To many redirects.

I'm typing this on my laptop, which do have updates pending so I guess it's just a matter of time until it too forces a new version of Edge on me.

It wouldn't surprise me if this has something to do with all the advertising on the site.

    .

i don't think so, this link has the same issue and advertising is not evident
    http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/

dr google says its a hosting issue

it has taken me back to chrome to post this, with much difficulty i point out; edge is now unable to even reach the picbasic home page.
hoping the notifications still work, i have run out of ways to get here easily and can't see me putting up with jumping though all the hoops frequently.

http://www.picbasic.co.uk was the link i tried to post that now fails too

    ps.
    using chrome
make sure no browsers instances are running of any sort
    run chrome
    goto above link
    login there
    then select forum
that works mostly , the first attempt fails every time

pps; edge is a no go for the whole site now

Maybe the redirects are from certain ads. Otherwise it's hard to explain why the problem sometimes happens for a few days and then is fine for a few days .. then broken again! Chrome does handle ad inserts differently.

Kind of funny. Ads are from google, Chrome from google too. But those two cannot go along together!

Doesn't work on my main machine (with Edge). I keep postponing the update(s) on the laptop I'm writing this on (which is currently running Edge version 108.0.1462.46) as I suspect I won't be able to reach the forum if I allow it to update. I've only experienced the issue with this particular site/forum.

Indeed, updating Edge does not access the forum anymore...

The only browser that works is Opera. Which is not that bad. Has also that adv switch that kills every adv on YouTube! I like it alot!

I have been looking at this issue.

I ahhve made several changes to the DNS to avoid DNS redirects.
There are redirects to HTTPS that I cannot avoid

However I am unable to reproduce the issue.

I would be interested to understand if when browsing to this site, you

    1) select "Remember Me" when logging in <----- you should do this

    2) After logging and and selecting "Remember Me"

you subsequently browse direct to http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/forum.php

    NOT directly to

    www.picbasic.co.uk

If someone could try doing that and let me know if its still an issue.

On Edge and Chrome, I tested direclty (as always do) the link http://www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/forum.php and result is the same.

Also the Remember me is checked. In either case I cannot login to logout and then test the Remember me again. I am still logged in but seeing too many redirects anyway.
