Re: Chip had no EE, should PBP3 know that?

Adding an external chip would require re-spinning the pcb. I thought about using WRITECODE and that might work but I worry about the endurance as I would like to write many times.

Re: HEF EE OK with WRITE ?

    Hi Henrik
so I am aware of WRITECODE (have never used it) but the endurance on the original part 16F15376 will not suffice

on the 16F1937 which has DataEE HEF and will drop on the same footprint...

Chip had no EE, should PBP3 know that?

So I was writing to EE when I started to worry about the endurance of the EE as there would be frequently writes potentially.
As I pursued that in the data sheet without much luck I accidentally...

HEF EE OK with WRITE ?

Can I use the PBP3 EE commands READ and WRITE on chips with HEF? I.e. are there any compatibility issues or DEFINEs needed ?

Re: How long does this take to execute

"transceiver" is just the term for the driver chip, i only use in one direction
there is an extension of the protocol that allows for a response from the light, i don't know how widely used that is...

Re: How long does this take to execute

well now you've done it Henrik

i was just warming up to the idea of doing everything in a polled loop and carefully squeezing activities in

re DT-Ints when you say "soft timing" do you mean...

Re: How long does this take to execute

it almost makes want to think about external hardware UART that has a 512 or 1k buffer, but i guess getting the data into that would be an issue too
    are there such things ?

Re: How long does this take to execute

    yes, DMX
Jeff did it for me many years ago @4MHz, but it was 100% assembler, i don't think picbasic was around then

and there was much less other stuff to do on that one than this new one which...

Re: How long does this take to execute

at the moment this is good, i am just roughing in some rough estimates for various parts of the overall program loop

at this stage whether it is 5 vs 6 shouldn't matter, 20 vs 5 or 6 might

Re: How long does this take to execute

just what i needed to know, thanks and hello again Henrik

so if i had 4 pairs of lines like above inside the loop (different pins) then i would have
    6 * 4 = 24 cycles
    24 + 2 = 26 cycles
    26 *...

    Re: SMBus, SBS, I2CWrite, I2CRead

Hi astouffer, this project is still alive for me!
i run the main loop at 8Mhz RC clock
when i call a gosub to do the SMBus via I2CREAD I2CWRITE in the gosub at the top i switch to 2MHz RC OSC on...

    Simulation newbie, any pointers?

Hi, can anyone give me a jumpstart primer on doing simulation for PBP3 ?
i downloaded the OshOnSoft PIC16 IDE eval and gave it a very quick spin, modified a real program to run to a certain early...

    Re: 10 bit PWM 16F1824

    wow, thanks a lot Alain
this exactly what i was hoping for
i got it to compile fine using PBP 3.0.7.4 and MPASM 5.49
i won't know if it works for about a week when the hardware is ready

    10 bit PWM 16F1824

    Hi all
amazing how fast the rust grows when you put this stuff down for a little bit

i thought for sure there was a PBP high level command for PWM that would do 10 bit, but it seems not, just...

    Re: something betterthan ULN2803

i haven't used BJT's for ages, i would go with discrete mosfets as there is virtually no static gate drive current requirement (dynamic is another issue) and modern mosfets have near zero conduction...

my recollection is that for low voltage programming you have to program it for that before you can program it with your code

    Re: Is BASIC dead ?

right, this is why we need to wave the flag and beat the drums about how fast PBP3 executes and how easy to use PBP3 is,
people hear 'basic' and they get all snooty
but i guess there is also some...
