Hi Dick,
I have often wondered this myself but hadn't got around to any testing. Thanks for the information.

Just a stab in the dark.... HSERIN will only work directly using TRUE state. Have you tried using an inverter or, alternatively, can you do a quick test using SERIN with N9600?
Thanks again Darrel.
Hi Darrel,
Thank you for your detailed explanation. Can you elaborate on "Clock Stretching" please?
Are other interrupts only an issue when using bit-banged SPI or are there still problems...
I have another question - do SPI and I2C (using either software or MSSP) still work ok when interrupts are also in use?
Andy
Thanks Jerson.

Hello,
Having never experimented much with SPI (or I2C for that matter), I need to ask a rather basic question - Do SPI and I2C require the use of an accurate (eg. crystal) oscillator, or do they...
Ok - got it now. Just a different method of achieving a similar result.
One has to wonder then why the terminating resistor is by far more popular? The diode arrangement seems more versatile and...
Hi Darrel,
I must admit I have only quickly glanced over the article. One thing that puzzles me a bit is how the diode arrangement actually works to dampen the reflections on the buss.
I have...
Hi Darrel,
Yet again another simple solution to a problem I have spent way too long on......... Thank you.
I do have the bias resistors on the bus. I read one of your previous posts containing...
Hello,
I am trying to work out how to use HSEROUT/HSERIN on 16F88 combined with a 75176 diff. bus tcvr chip. I want to create bi-directional, half duplex communication over a single pair.
I am...
Thanks for the replies. The UART TX pin cannot be used fro GPIO in this case.

Hello,
I am receiving some serial data using HSERIN on a 16F88. I don't need to TX any data. Can I use RB5 (the UART TX pin) as GPIO or is it locked to serial TX function once the SPEN bit is set?...
Hi Darrel,
Thanks for clearing that up. I have it all working now.
Andy
Hello,
I am trying to compile a program using Darrel's Instant Interrupts and SSPWM using 16F88. Program will compile fine using one or the other, not both. I think the problem is in the...
Ok - got it working. Disabled internal/external clock switchover and fail safe clock monitor.
Ok - I have removed the crystal and it still runs at 8MHz! Definitely have a configuration issue somewhere.....

Hi,
I currently have a matrix keypad and lcd connected to a PIC18F4620 running a 20MHz external crystal. When a key is pressed the number of the key is displayed on the lcd and also sent out via...
Hi Dave,
The problems were created by the nut behind the keyboard. The first problem was caused by not defining the keypad connection correctly. The second problem was due to some redundant code...
I have a 2 row, 6 column matrix keypad connected to Port B of a PIC18F4620. The rows are on RB6-7 and the cols are RB0-5. I am using MisterE's keypad routine and it is generating this warning at...
Hi,
I am working on a project involving a handheld device that communicates over an RF link to a PIC18F6520 in the main control unit. I have tried various ways of making reliable contact...
There is no LOW LED4 either.....................

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for the info. I now remember seeing that app note many years ago.
I also found this thread which has helped me get something up and operational on a 16f877 for starters.

Hello,
A few ham friends and I are working on a project where we would like to be able to automatically switch in various filters based on the frequency of an Rf signal in the range 1.8 to 30MHz....
I came across this diagram some time back. Maybe this gives you what you want?
