    PIC18FF27K40 with Tiny Bootloader Solved!

Turns out I was using and old Tiny BL revision so I download the latest from here: Tiny Multi Bootloader+

    Short story version:
So even after setting everything up like the last one, my downloaded...

    Re: Tiny Bootloader and PIC18F27K40

    Thanks Ioannis,

I'm getting closer with the Tiny Bootloader. A couple little value changes to it writes the complete program now, but...
it stays it the bootloader and won't run my program. The...

    Update

    Thanks Dave,

Took a break to do some mind relaxing yard work and had that "Ah ha!" moment. Realized that I neglected to enable the RS232 chip, SN65C3222E within the bootloader.
    I chose this one...

I spent so much time trying to get the tiny bootloader to work it felt like a big disappointment and waste of time. But as it turns out, the experience fumbling with the asm code made me more...

    Re: Tiny Bootloader and PIC18F27K40

tumbleweed: I recall trying 128 byte settings once but could've had something else misconfigured at the same time.
I'll start from there, thanks for verifying block sizes.

    Re: Tiny Bootloader and PIC18F27K40

    Dave,

I don't have MicroCode Loader in my arsenal so I ordered it so I can experiment. It's a few bucks and will probably come in handy even if it doesn't for this chip.

    This PIC needs to have...

    Thanks for the files Dave.
I don't think I've used MicroCode Loader before but will check it out.

    Tiny Bootloader and PIC18F27K40

    Hi all,

I've been trying to get the tiny bootloader to work on the PIC18F27K40 and I am so close but hit a wall because I'm fumbling in the dark when it comes to assembly and the flash writing...
  9. Re: with the pic16f628a off, a voltage on an1 comes out from main voltage pin, why?

    Thanks for the tip Ioannis.
Am always looking to improve circuit performance, I'll check these out.
  10. Re: with the pic16f628a off, a voltage on an1 comes out from main voltage pin, why?

Use a low ON resistance P-CH like was suggested that is controlled with your program.
Here's what I did to switch the battery input to keep that from happening and to reduce the over all Sleep...
  11. Re: Shiftout question about the manual statement

"SSP1BUF = MRFSPIdata": This loads real fast. But the actual transmission that takes place after that, takes a lot more micro seconds.
If you write to the SSP1BUF back to back, the TX buffer gets...
  12. Re: PWM Motor Control with Soft Start, Soft Stop Example Please

Your method simplifies it enough to get it started, especially after a long break.
I'm guilty of diving fingers first with "intentional coding" then get stuck with paralysis of analysis. :D
  13. Re: PWM Motor Control with Soft Start, Soft Stop Example Please

    Ross

Here's a snippet of some old code that might get you started with the pot control:

DEFINE ADC_BITS 8 ' Set number of bits in result
    DEFINE ADC_CLOCK 3 ' Set clock source...

    Re: OLED Display Noise problem

You can only "see" so fast before it becomes a blur.
Try adding a PAUSE 33 in your main loop as it is, making it 30fps, just to test if the ghost dots go away.

    Re: OLED Display Noise problem

    Hi,

I would suggest writing to the LCD only when you need to update the display info.
Constantly writing to it in a loop without any kind of delay may be causing the problem.

Re: Monitor supply voltage of chip?

I think a fixed Vdd to the PIC set below the "low battery" level is your only recourse with this one.
Then a simple voltage divider to monitor the battery level with the A/D to trigger sleep mode...
  22. Re: Electrical Issue: PIC input false triggering, Signal Noise suspected.

    Hi abecker,
The inductors should be in your controller circuit because just as your intuition suggests, you will end up with a short antenna at the input of your box.
If you have room at the reed...
  23. Re: Electrical Issue: PIC input false triggering, Signal Noise suspected.

Like the guys said, a stiff pullup and a cap. I would also add an inductor to keep the noise spikes out.
You can probably get by without L2 in this diagram but added it in just in case.
