    Re: 1st time with battery -- 12F508

I'm running 12F683 powered by 3 rechargeable AA batteries (from solar charger) For years. Working fine so far.
  2. Re: Converting PULSIN reading to RPM, from PC Fan?

All my PWM/CCP channels are busy :)
Too bad they don't make chips with 8-16 PWM outputs :)
  3. Re: Can we have multiple 1-wire devices on single pin?

And a side question, can we use 1-wire protocol to communicate between 2 PICs?
  4. Re: Converting PULSIN reading to RPM, from PC Fan?

I already tried COUNT. Returns very low number of pulses - for 3700rpm it returns something like 120. Absolutely not precise.
  5. Re: Converting PULSIN reading to RPM, from PC Fan?

Well, at page 129, there is DEBUG statement described, have no idea, how to use it for RPM measurement :D
  6. Re: Converting PULSIN reading to RPM, from PC Fan?

I've connected same fan to motherboard, and used it's bios settings to change speeds from min to max and based on that, updated the code, and now it delivers results consistent with motherboard...
  7. Converting PULSIN reading to RPM, from PC Fan?

    Hello.
I have a simple circuit with PC fan. It's tachometer output is tied to VDD via 10K resistor and goes into PIC16F886. Fan model is AD0812UX-A7BGL-LF
and rated speed is 3700 RPM. It has PWM...
  8. Re: Dual 18F Program Ideas and strategy SPI and CAN.

    Most likely, for chip-tuning purposes...
  9. Re: Can we have multiple 1-wire devices on single pin?

Fan won't stop in absence of PWM signal. most fans, without PWM signal applied, will default to 30-50% RPM.
  10. Re: Can we have multiple 1-wire devices on single pin?

Yes, so I came to different solution. I also have PWM output pin, which goes into fan PWM in. So I'll hook DS18B20 to it - When I need to use thermometer, I will stop HPWM output on that pin, read...
  11. Re: Can we have multiple 1-wire devices on single pin?

I have an idea, fan tachometer output will be tied to VDD via 4.7k resistor, as DS18B20 should be. Fan outputs pulses not so fast, so what if I attach DS18B20 to same pin as fan tachometer output?...
  12. Re: Can we have multiple 1-wire devices on single pin?

I want to use PIC16F1503 and have to chain thermometers due to pin count. I guess, running above, complex code might not be possible on this wimpy chip?

    The task is as follows:
    There are 3 fans...
  13. Can we have multiple 1-wire devices on single pin?

Arduino supports that, but I have not found anything about for that in PBP reference manual...
I want to hook up 4 pcs of DS18B20 to single pin. As I have read, each has unique identifier, so it...

    Re: big char oled display

The biggest I2C OLED display I've seen was 3 inch and 320x240 resolution. Ones above already have MIPI or other, hard to drive interfaces.
  15. Re: WS2812b and similar LEDs - do we need all time running tight loop for control?

Thanks, I only will have two of such leds, and both should display same color. So what if I connect their inputs in parallel?
  16. WS2812b and similar LEDs - do we need all time running tight loop for control?

    Hello.

I've checked code examples found here, and by my understanding, I see that it is required to send tight timed pulse signals for those leds, which some folks done via assembly. So my...
  17. Re: "Variable already an alias" - is there a way to avoid this?

I've added external drivers to circuitry, so voltage now not an issue, so brightness also can be increased :)
  18. Re: ADC keyboard and fast response to user input, possible?

Yes I can, but there are no schematics, I've directly developed PCB. So I can post gerber files for it. It uses 16F887A chip, DS3231 for timekeeping, UC3843 with external mosfet for HV generation...
  19. Re: ADC keyboard and fast response to user input, possible?

    LOL.

Do you have at least TV remote at hands?

when you press say channel up button, it immediately switches the channel (the actual change might occur a bit later, but here we're talking about...
  20. Re: ADC keyboard and fast response to user input, possible?

    So what I need.
if user presses key, there should be immediate response, but if he keeps it pressed, variable value should increase slowly, so he won't skip desired value.
  21. Re: ADC keyboard and fast response to user input, possible?

There are no problems with ADC readings. It returns stable result.
  22. ADC keyboard and fast response to user input, possible?

I have and ADC input and two resistor network driving it, so when no button pressed, adc reads 255. On button 1 it returns 128 and on button 2 it returns 0.

Both buttons are used to control same...

Re: How to prevent variable going below zero?

Technically, I solved this problem by making I change between 5 and 260, and outputting HPWM 2,I-5,10000.

Re: How to prevent variable going below zero?

So this "wrapping" is compiler related issue and can't be fixed, as I understand?

Re: How to prevent variable going below zero?

And since here is PBP forum, not general representation forum, I'm asking how to deal with this in PBP :)
