Eish Bra,
At some time in the future, I want to discuss with you using VBA and possibly Visual Basic for a simple HTML on a PC. I am a long way off though.
I visited Secunda as a boy when my...
Thanks for this valuable advice. I like the idea of passing the 16F690 by. I have already bought a rail of the 690 ICs but they,ll get used somewhere, sometime.
Here in SA, the 16F1828 is just...
Thanks for your response Dave.
What do I want to do?... I am a hobbyist and tend to build a variety of different gadgets. The circuits tend to be fairly simple. ADC, UART/USART, I2C, motors and...
I'm new to PICs and I am overwhelmed by the Datasheets and technical notes. On the previous MCU I used, I had a choice of 2 flavours in three sizes. That is easy!
I note that the PICBasic website...
This thread resolved!!!
The dongle then started doing the same thing on my old PC and I tried to order a 2nd PICKit 2 but there is no stock in South Africa. I opened the dongle up and ran a...
Hi Jason
Check the low pin count demo board for power. With MPLAB, it gets its power from the PICKit 2 dongle. With PICBasic, you seem to have to feed it. It eats only 5 volts! (the two holes at...
Thanks ArchAngel
OK So the whole system works well on my ancient Pentium tower running XP. This PICBasic software is neat! I have run 5 demos and reprogrammed the chip 30 or 40 times! Even the...
OK Dwight, so you're a Gentleman! Thanks for that neat code. I works like clockwork
I now understand both ADC and DEBUG!

Thanks Archangel, that helps reinforce my feeling that I have a hardware/dongle failure. Unplugging the cable and rebooting PICBasic don't help. I am using an existing PCB that works.
Thanks for that "Heads-Up" Dave. I am scared of PC Com Ports after I got a 100V shock from one (half our 220V phase). I prefer using a MAX232 to a fried PCB. We tend to get Kong Fu PCs here and you...
Thanks Dwight - that will sort me out once I've got my Microchip PICKit 2 dongle to start working again. The fault with the dongle seems like it may be electronic, not software.
When I started...
Waar op arde is die plek Secunda. Dis amper so verlooren as Kwa Dukuza
I see we are two new guys on this forum, both from "platterland" South Africa. (I always wonder why we call rural South...
OK So the problem persists, and it also occurs with the PICKit 2 software (so it's almost certainly not PICBasic Pro). Ive done some testing and the PICKit 2 dongle seems to fail and remain a problem...
Thanks Bob, that was painless. I'd missed the load new operating software under tools in PICKit2 software. I must have been sleeping.
This was an intermittent fault and it's working now so I just...
I have just loaded PICBasic Pro on my netbook running Windows 7 (32bit). It programs a device a couple of times then, during the "compile and program" the second DOS window freezes. The Power LED,...
Thanks Bert and Hank
No time for tea or a nap but I'm sure this will solve my ADC problem. I now have a problem with the compiler. It crashes after a couple of downloads and only works again after...
Thanks for your help Bert,
Bert said "[code[ <----should be the other, but then you won't see the tag
