    Re: Goodbye

    I said that

    IF
    you were writing your program from scratch (without any Arduino libraries)
    THEN
    The prebuilt hardware would be the only reason to use the Arduino platform
    ENDIF

    Re: Max Array Size?

    It occurred to me later that a PBP array could practically be the size of “all available RAM” so long as you could put up with the performance hit of calling a subroutine
    instead of accessing an...

    Re: Goodbye

    I wouldn’t say that, but there would be no reason to. I was talking about hardware specifically... relating to the Techmoan vid.
    You can buy an Arduino board with guaranteed ESD handling from supply...

    Re: CHECKSUM CALCULATION, Please Help!

    No, it doesn’t, not even the slightest little bit.

    Any BASIC program can be written directly into C, with the same structure, and exactly the same program flow.
    C is much more flexible, so it...

    Re: CHECKSUM CALCULATION, Please Help!

    No problem. Still I’d love for someone to explain the difficulty.

    const unsigned char Buffer[27] = {

    Re: Max Array Size?

    I missed that one Dave. I said I went straight from 16F to dsPic. From there, you can really only go to Pic32 ;)
    Same compiler though. There wouldn’t be any learning curve, so it’s just down to not...

    That vinyl video player is a project by two people that became the companies’ only product.

    You would, and should be laughed at for suggesting a design based on Arduino or Pi in a professional EE...

    Re: CHECKSUM CALCULATION, Please Help!

    Everyone complains C is so hard, yet the code you posted is identical to BASIC with slightly different syntax.

    chk = 0
    FOR i = 0 TO 26
    chk = chk ^ Buffer[i]
    NEXT i
    chk = chk ^ $FF

    Re: Multiplexer address control..

    It would be quicker if you used the port bits 0-3 instead, so you could just increment the port b value.
    The quickest way also depends where the enable bit is connected.

    Little Rocket Man :D

    Hi Guys :)

    I thought you might appreciate this one.
    A look at the General Instruments SP0256, with pic 16F628A. The software is actually all PicBASIC.

    You might even remember the project book...

    Re: Circumference of circle to many decimal places

    But in C, since you usually have math.h with floating point, you wouldn’t actually do that.
    This was part of a challenge with strict constraints.

    To do it in C, it’s:

    float circ;
    float...

    Re: inverting all bits in a byte

    Using comf would be about twice as fast there since you don’t have to do anything at all with the literal 0xFF.

    Hi :)
    For help with latest versions:
    github.com/cv007/XC3216

    XC8 is definitely not GCC.

    The Mac OS version is missing form the document on Github, and I have found it myself:

    Re: Max Array Size?

    It’s enough for me not to bother.
    I’m studying now, and can’t do anything real committing where time spent on it could spiral out of control,
    so I’ve been sniffing for a short kind of project.

    Yes that code is going to kill the EEPROM location quickly.
    You need to write only every “so many” loops.

    Re: Max Array Size?

    Neither.
    No pic I’ve used with PBP has provided a mechanism to define all available RAM in a single array, probably due to bank swapping.
    I’d guess PBP wants the RAM in an array to be continuous,...

    Re: Figured Out MPLAB X

    You should have a message Richard, but the second method might also break XC8 (untested).
    All integrity would be lost if that was posted in public.
    If you can determine that is also GCC compiler it...
