    Re: CAB bus applications

    First, you can use external CAN modules that speak SPI/UART/I2C, making it easier for you.

    Second, you will still need an additional CAN driver to work with the voltages required.

    Check out...
  2. Re: Confirm 18f47k40 MSSP setting and allocation using PSS

    Although usually not necessary, there is a PPS Unlock sequence that is missing in the above code:

    PPSLOCK = $55
    PPSLOCK = $AA
    PPSLOCK.0 = 0

    Also, I checked on available Ports for MSSP1/2...
  3. Re: pass pic basic pro pic from pic 16f877a to pic 16f887

    I assume you have a data sheet for your LCD. First, only update the screen when a value changes. This means tracking "OldVolts" through a separate variable. Next, when you DO update, only update...

    Re: Victron , VE.Direct

    I remember my high school science teacher would ask, "Any questions?" After close to a minute of silence he would add, "Do you understand enough to have any questions??" Not sure what you're even...

    Re: Snap programmer

    It sounds like you're trying a "back door" approach. First, what IDE are you using? MicroCode Studio? MPLABX?

    From MicroCode Studio you should have the option of adding a Programmer to the...

    Re: Pickit 3 failed to program

    Early PIC chips had a dedicated RESET pin; MCLR. Later they allowed that pin to also work as a generic digital input, giving it a name (like RE3). I am not aware of ANY PIC that allows the MCLR pin...

    Re: Pickit 3 failed to program

    In a previous post the question was posed, where to buy? I searched Microchip's site for PICKit3 and it appears they have discontinued selling it. There are probably many in inventory at DigiKey...

    Re: Pickit 3 failed to program

    It just occurred to me that the really old PIC16F chips have an issue with the Vpp/MCLR voltage. As I recall, putting a 100 ohm resistor between the Vpp pin and the PICKit3 was a work-around.

    Re: Pickit 3 failed to program

    For $15 US you can replace it (or have a back-up) with the new Snap from Microchip. It has pretty much all the functionality of other Programmers, except you cannot power the device from it. ...

    Re: Pickit 3 failed to program

    Process of elimination:

    - Try a different hub, or better yet, plug directly into your PC
    - Hold the button on the front of the PICKit 3 when you power it up until the lights blink. This forces a...

    Re: 16F88 -- weird stuff Ansel?

    If that doesn't work, post your entire code, including your CONFIGuration bits. Use [ CODE] and [/CODE] (without the spaces) to compartmentalize your code in the forum posting.

    Re: jumping out of a gosub reminder

    Then yes, POP the Stack. Not sure when such an approach might be considered good programming practice, though.

    Re: jumping out of a gosub reminder

    Don't use both. What was printed in the above post will GOTO a new address, then erase the RETURN address. This will generate a Stack Underflow condition and the PIC will "exhibit unpredictable...

    Re: Effect of DT_INT14 on Serin2 or DebugIn

    I guess this is a good place to start. Why not? You can use DT_INTs with every single Interrupt your PIC is capable, and all at the same time. You can have a Timer Interrupt and also multiple UART...

    Re: jumping out of a gosub reminder

    I commonly use GOTO to jump from one Sub to another when there is nothing left to do in the first Sub. This keeps the Stack from building up, and reduces execution time. Working with the Nextion...

    Re: jumping out of a gosub reminder

    Here is a simple exercise to review the Stack:

    10: Main:
    20: DO
    30: IF PORTB.1 = 1 THEN
    40: GOSUB CheckIn
    ' Stack Contains 40
    50: ENDIF

    Re: Nextion LCDs... How to comunicate ???

    After you select "crop image" a new box will appear in Attributes called "picc". Click on it, click "browse", then select your background image.

    Re: Array error in Hserin

    Another PBP trick when mixing with ASM is to declare your variables with the addendum SYSTEM:

    The only advantage I can see is if you have a pin-specific function that requires a hardware input, and cannot be connected with software -- perhaps a Comparator. The newer PIC offerings more and...

    eagleman, as of this reply, you show 2 posts. Let us get to know you a bit. How long have you worked with PICs? How about PBP specifically? Is this your 1st project, or is it your 17th?

    Re: Ability to pay per MCU License.

    I declare "b0 VAR BYTE" and use it as a generic local variable in subroutines. I can have b1, b2, or even w0, w1... etc. I learned that back in my PICAXE days. It's common to declare "int i;" in C...
