Do you think picbasic pro can replace GAL or GPLD in a simple circuit?
Do you think we can emulate digital gates logic circuit with a single chip and picabsic pro?
To be more specific do you think picbasic pro and a fast pic is able to emulate
this digital gate circuit? Will be fast enough?
As I have no knowledge of GAL or GPLD Language I am thinking of using Micorchip PIC instead!

Yes you can implement the digital gates logic in a PIC. However, the propagation delay on the PIC code will be very high compared to doing the same implementation in a CPLD. The CPLD will give results in nSecs and the PIC may take a few uSecs. So, you need to define fast enough to know it if will suit your requirements.

bitmaniac,
Take a look at Configurable Logic Cell (CLC) in some of the new chips like the 16F1507.
I haven't had a chance to try it, so I don't know if will do what you want.
Those chips are supported in PBP3.

With parts like these, I'll have to quit bashing 16F chips.

Oh! I didn't know of this new feature! THANKS DARREL. I will get some info and come back!
