Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
Hi All,
I'm in Australia and I don't have a credit card.... i live debt/credit free (lucky me).
The downside is i can't buy things online unless it's via Paypal.
Can anyone point me to a PIC reseller that accepts Paypal?
I tried microchip direct to no avail.
I even tried those temporary "top up" Visa cards, but apparently not ALL vendors accept them.

Microchip direct doesn't let you use paypal?
It does for me, but I'm in the US if that makes a difference.

Fakes.............
that's a pretty broad statement . i'm sure Australian suppliers on ebay like
modtronix (bestbay_au) and core_electronics would be hurt to hear that
Re: Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
Jaycar Electronics also sell a small selection of 8-bit pic's that you can buy over the counter for cash
Re: Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
I buy all of my components from ebay at a fraction of the cost of "reputable" suppliers - often the total price on ebay is less than the p&p from the other. I'm a tinkerer so cost is an issue but time is not. Most ebay sellers, particularly the ones in China, are so desparate to retain their positive feedback that they will refund small sums "at the drop of a hat". Most give free p&p, so spread your order around and don't spend too much with one. As to the fakes comment, most of the stuff I buy is so cheap, it's hardly worth faking. For instance I just bought a DS3231 on a board (with a AT24C32 as well) for £0.99 with free p&p and I'll bet you all the money in my pocket that if it doesn't work, I'll get a refund and won't be required to return the defective back.
@OldMarty That is contempt prior to investigation or you're just unlucky.

Nope, Paypal isn't even an option amongst the visacard options etc...must be a local thing as u said..
Re: Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
Regarding fake PICs from chinese ebay sellers (amongst all the other IC's and transistors they mass produce without dies inside)
It's not such a big deal to lose the money as long as they're small purchases, i'm only intending to buy $20-$30 worth of chips, which can be 10-20 chips as opposed to some ebay resellers that demand $15-$30 per chip.
While i may lose some $$ receiving fake chips, other than the disapointment of losing a few $$$, it's the simple fact that i still have no chips to play with., so i achieved nothing.
Jaycar don't sell modern pics, they're still selling 16F84's from 20 years ago lol
Anyhoo, onwards & upwards.
Re: Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
I realy wouldn't get hung up, just keep each purchase small. Try tayda2009 they don't carry a large range of PISs but they are quick and cheap.
Re: Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
I was under the impression that you had to "connect" a some sort of credit/debet card to your Paypal account but that's apparently wrong. Anyway, have you checked if Mouser and/or Digikey offers a Paypal option?
/Henrik.

I tried mouser, i tried buying 10 chips, approx $40 total (for 2 types), then they wanted $70 postage/handling....i shut that site quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
Looking specifically for:
PIC18F25k22 (28pin DIP)
PIC18F45k22 (40pin DIP)
No SMD's please..
sigh....
Re: Where can i buy PICs using Paypal?????
Both Digikey and Mouser offers free shipping when you buy for more than a certain ammount, on Digikey it's $100, I don't remember what it is on Mouser but probably around the same. I tend to keep a list of stuff I "need" and when it's time to order I'm "always" above that free shipping limit. And if I don't have enough stuff my list already I can always find some...
I checked both Digikey and Mouser they charge the equivalent of $20 and $22 respectively - when you don't qualify for free shipping.
$70 sounds WAY off. I can't believe it would differ that much depending on location. (I'm in Sweden so it's still quite a bit away from Digikey (and I donät know from where Mouser actually ships)).
