Olimex PIC-GSM - any experience?

Hi,

I'm about to start playing with some GSM code, and I found this:

Now, I may be biting off more than I can chew here, since the 18F67J50 onboard is like a spaceship compared to the small PICs I've played with so far.

I'm trying to find anybody that has any experience with this device using PBP, as I don't program anything else, so the demo code is gobbledygook to me. Page 8 of the manual shows the GSM chip interfaced to PORTC, so I'm assuming I can talk to it and listen to it with SEROUT/SERIN commands?

Has anybody played with this device? Am I correct in my assumption?
