Installation Advice Please
Hi All!
I just upgraded my computer and need to reinstall all my stuff. I have 4 disks one is white labeled PBP3 Picbasic Pro Compiler, another is Blue, labeled Microcode Studio Plus, another silver/blue, labeled MPLAB IDE V 7.00a, and the forth is Black and labeled Picbasic Pro Compiler Upgrade. Do I need to install all four and in what order? Thanks in advance.
Best, Ed
Re: Installation Advice Please
I'd start with PBP, white then blue. It should tell you if the version is required.
Then run B&W update. Same thing, it should tell you if it's required or not.
Then Microcode Studio, so you can set in options where you installed PBP.
Are you sure some are not older PBP 2?
You can also check on the cd, readme files which version they are. I use a black marker to label my CDs.
Then I'd check the web sites to know which version of MCSP and MPLAB is compatible with which version of PBP.
Re: Installation Advice Please
Doesn't it say on the discs which version they contain? Just install the lates one and be done with it, no need go thru each and every version (if you don't want or need to HAVE) each and every version installed of course.
Then install MicroCodeStudio and let it find the PBP installation folder.

Re: Installation Advice Please
Maybe I have created some confusion? Here is what I have and I downloaded the MPLAB IDE 8.92 so I know the 7.00a is old. I think I need to install the black disk?
Re: Installation Advice Please
Is it a PBP 3 upgrade?
Browse the CD and check out the Readme file.
Or just click the setup exe on it and see what it says on the opening screen.
Re: Installation Advice Please
The Black CD says PBP2.60c
Re: Installation Advice Please
The only time you need a prior version installed is when applying patches, like going from 2.6A to 2.6C.
If you want the newest one, then install the newest one (PBP3 is newer than PBP2.6). Install it from the CD or better yet, go to Melabs, download 3.0.9 and install it.

Re: Installation Advice Please
Thanks!
You are right I only needed to install the white disk which is PBP3 Gold. The MPLAB IDE was better as a download as the download was much newer!
