hi.how can i test my x-10 transmit & receiver circuit using function generator and oscilloscope???just to confirm my receiver circuit weather it receive the pulse from the transmitter circuit(using function generator).my idea is as shown in link below(figure):

Be *VERY* careful with the polarities here.

However, I have built my own adapter that uses a transformer salvaged from an old busted X10 receiver, a capacitor and a resistor, that provides isolation from the mains.

is it use to detect the x-10 signal???i just want to check weather my receiver circuit(as shown in the link above) receive the 'pulse' from the power line that have been transmit by the transmitter circuit(as shown in the link above).correct me if i'm wrong.thanx ardhuru for replying...

what i mean is inject the 120khz using function generator without apply the PIC and also detect the presence of the 120khz at the receiver using oscilloscope without apply the PIC.link for the figure have been update.check it out....

Texas5, remember the zero-crossing issue. to simulate a X10 burst, you need to fire your 120khz using function generator exactly at zero-crossing.

AN236 where you got the circuits you've posted, also shows how to detect ZC.

I really do not understand what you are trying to accomplish. The easiest way to see if the circuitry works is to put an X-10 signal on the powerline and see if you can detect it. AN236 also shows a circuit for connecting an oscilloscope to see the 120kHz.
