I am making a lock box, and need a servo/ type machinism to open it. It will need to be low power and small, as it will operate from internal batteries. Any hints as to where to start looking?

Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron,

Is it for commercial purposes or just a hobby?

Hi Ron

How about using a dc motor from a standard boom box? 6V dc type. We use this in our Electronic Coffers

Hi Christopher,

We have a mechanism that can be used for that purpose.
It has a POT inside which can be used for positioning, too.
Since we are now in holiday until Thursday, I do not have the specs with me.
I will send a PM to you for the specs by then.

Very low current, Made in Germany gear box.

Available qty:5Kpcs.

I tried using a solenoid from a car door and it works but requires very high current >4 amps at times. Because of the current draw, my pic would reset due to the voltage sag on the board although I could correct that with a big capacitor and a diode. Send me a PM, I'd like to take a look at it.

What about the battery operated solenoids in the newer urinals? These seem to use a servo motor to operate the valve.
