A better Search tool for the Forum

Well, in return, all I can do is try to make a "Better Search tool" ...

Using google's relatively new "Custom Search", even more Relevant results can be found.
Not only from this forum, but from many years of the original PICBASIC-L mailing list (I was there), as well as rentron.com and a few others.

Plunk in the chip ... "PIC16F877A" and it'll show a link to the datasheet too. (usually)

Often times the built-in vBulletin search tool gives less than desirable results, and you can spend hours searching for something that's just "Right There". It doesn't sort by relevance, and ignores words less than 4 characters in length. So if you're searching for LCD or ADC, you may never find them.

The Google "Site" search above will do a much better job.

Just found this thread (I don't normally look in the FAQ) and I wish I'd found it sooner. I have found the 4 letter minimum search quite difficult to use in order to obtain the answers I'm after in the past. Exactly for the reasons you listed above - who starts a post with Liquid Crystal Display problem - answer; no-one!

I have bookmarked this thread in my browser as I'm sure it will come in handy (plus I can't lose it that way!)

Now, if I can just figure out a way to get the PICsearch to work in my Foxfire toolbar... no, that has to wait until I get the other 112 projects off the bench.... so much code...so little time...

I've been working on it a little bit.
Setting "promotions" for well known and usefull threads.
It's extremely time consumming, so not very many show up yet.

But when you search for things like Configs, PID loop, USB, keypad etc, it will highlight recommended threads or webpages.
