Hi!

I'm very new to using pics and I'm doing a school work about this, the idea of my work is this: that I can in windows press a button and then it will use USB to communicate with PIC18F2550-I/SP and then it will but a red LED on and when I press other button other led will go on and when I press other button the leds will both blink on and off.. and so on.. (I hope you understand what the point of my work is anyhow..) i have problems;

1. I don't know how I can make the buttons,
what programs? what code? in Win XP?

2. Does PIC18F2550-I/SP use what code?
what hardware I need so I can upload the code in it?

I have been looking information for a long time but for some reason I cant find those, I think the reason for it may be the fact I'm a Newbie.

I thank all of you hwo are willing to help me.

Hi LuuMu,

1. Why do you need to use PIC18F2550-I/SP ? just because of USB port?
2. Can you not use RS232? Your PC has Com1, Com2 etc. serial ports as you know. Would be a lot easier.
3. Did you check Bruce's WEB site for PC Comm.. examples with PICs? etc.

Regards.

There is a neat USB data acquisition project using the PIC 18F4550. The project details can be found at: http://www.sixca.com/eng/articles/usbdaq/index.html

- 8 Digital output
- 8 Digital input
- 8 Analog output
- Firmware examples with source for C18 Compiler
- Delphi 6 example with source

Hope this helps,

Marc

Get a PIC compiler : Melabs PicBasic Pro if you want to have our support
Get a PIC programmer : Microchip ICD-2 (or else) or build your-own freebies like Ic-Prog, WinPicProg...
Grab a code editor like Mecanique Microcode Studio (it comes with PBP anyway)
Use Mecanique EasyHid to create the USB PBP template and PC-Software template
Get a Pc-Software compatible with Mecanique EasyHid
Begin small project, get familiar with PIC, get familiar with PC-Software
Enjoy and have fun!

What i use most of the time.

Compiler : Melabs PicBasic Pro v2.47
PIC Programmer : Bk Precision BK844a
Code Editor : Mecanique MicroCode Studio Plus
Mecanique EasyHid
Visual Basic 6
