View Full Version : Looking for low Wattage heater wire

I have a project that needs a linear length heater. The temprature it needs to reach is only 60 deg F as this is a simple de-icer for a seal. Much more than this will shatter the glass.
I plan on using a PWM/FET to control the temprature and a LM34CZ temp sensor to read the ambient temp and switch on the heater at 32 deg F and increase the PWM duty cycle the lower the ambient temp gets.
I'm trying to find a suitable, thin wire that will operate at ~12V and not more than a couple of Amps. It needs to be as flexible as possible.
Most searches come up with a wire that takes tens of Amps and reaches well over 300 deg F. Obviously, I can lower the Amps and get a lower temp, but that appears to be not what the wires I'm finding are designed for.
If you know of a place the deals in this kind of stuff let me know.

Thanks,
James.
