Hey, Does anybody know of a cheap (easy to build) programmer for these chips?

Hi Mat,

Thanks for the reply, I too use IC-Prog to program my chips, and a JDM style for my 16F84 and 16F628.

I guess with a little bit of modification, I can get the '877 chip to work using my existing programmer. Good to know.

I have made an adapter pcb for programming 16F8XX 28 pin chips which plug into my existing 16F84/ 16F628 programmer Ziff socket.

Works like a charm. Have attached it for anyone who makes their own PCBs to print out and etch.
