Hello,

I'm using LM35 for a fire detector project but I can't decide whether I should use a capacitor between the sensor and pic16f877 adc pin to minimize noise. The sensor is going to be placed very close to the pcb (about 10 cm or so) so I'm not sure. Also, I'd like to have recommendations on mounting options for the sensor. Do I need to a special enclosure or should I just "hang" it off the detector box? It is in TO-92 package and used for detecting the room temperature.

Thanks in advance

IMHO, it will be safe to place a capacitor (.01 - 0.1 uF) between ground and ADC pin to smooth the signal.

Some will place the sensor directly on the PCB and some other will place the sensor outside of the enclosure. I'll prefer to place the sensor as close as possible to the "outside world" to get the outside temperature and avoid some variant comming from other components.
